Do you make weighted blankets?

+

No, the blankets are not weighted. Currently I have that in my future production list but at the moment I don’t have the capability of making weighted blankets. I could however, make a weighted blanket cover. Email me if you’re interested in that- it would cost more than a regular Grankie. However, my blankets are heavier than most throws, at 3 pounds ship weight.

What size are the Grownup Blankies?

+

Our standard "Grankies" are large enough to cover the top of a Queen-size mattress, but not hang over the sides. They tend to be roughly 56"x68", depending on the trim style, and who was at the cutting counter that day, and then it varies by 2" or so. Please see my video here that shows how big it is on a human on a king size bed.

Do you ship Internationally, or only in the US?

+

I ship everywhere my government legally allows me to do so! The best way to find out shipping costs is to make up your order and enter your address in checkout, and it will calculate all that info for you before purchasing!

How do I find a pattern with [X] in it?

+

Use the magnifying glass at the top of my site to search for keywords. If you're not finding anything, message me and I'll help you find something that works!

Blanket washing/drying - Care Instructions

+

My Grownup Blankies are all Minky Fleece - which are made of Polyester (acrylic) man-made materials. The fibers are the same substance that plastic is made of, just spun into threads and is super soft. Being acrylic, they will melt and clump together with high heat. So NEVER EVER WASH OR DRY YOUR BLANKIE WITH ANY SORT OF HEAT!
Machine wash with cold or medium heat water, tumble dry on LOW heat. Do not use high or regular heat from the dryer, this will cause the fibers to melt & mat together and no longer be soft. To maintain ultimate softness, never dry on high or regular heat, keep out of direct sunlight, and keep away from flame.

Do you offer Satin or Silky trim/border as an option?

+

If you want to special-order satin trim, it will be an extra $100 because it's very labor intensive and can be the same price as the material itself. I understand there's some nostalgia for silky trim, but because it's so frustrating to work with, I do require a large premium for anyone who's set on having it. Please see this video talking more about my satin trim policy

Want a print I don't carry, or have a custom pattern request?

+

I offer the "You Choose" item for purchase in my shop - it contains instructions on the listing page, but basically what you'll do is go to Spoonflower and search for a print you like. Then take that print's URL link and paste it into the Order Notes box of the "You Choose" blankie, and purchase it there. I'll see the note and use your print of choice to create your Grownup Blankie with the same love and care that I make all my others!

Are your blankets waterproof? Are they "adult"?

+

I didn't even realize this was a thing before I started getting this question on my Tiktok videos. No, they're not waterproof, they're polyester acrylic minky fleece, with no waterproof barrier in the middle. I might do that in the future, but for now that's not the direction I was going with these blankies. They are just very soft and cozy. But they are extremely washable (on low temp!)

Do you offer blankies with hoods?

+

I do have cloaks! Not simply hoods attached to the standard blankies.

Why are your blankets so expensive?

+

Short answer: they're handmade, custom, and special-ordered.
Longer answer: they're handmade, by someone who relies on them for income here in the US (me), as well as printed here in the US, and I only buy the highest-quality, softest, and best materials to make your unique blanket. I've done a lot of trial-and-error to find the most consistently amazing colors, prints, and textures. They're so much better than ones you can buy on Amazon or Target, so the price reflects that as well. Also, I'm running a whole business, and that means licensing and taxes, website costs, and marketing, which all add to the cost. Your purchase really matters to *this* small business owner
